The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed five legendary cricketers as mentors for the Champions Cup team. Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Waqar Younis will guide the team for three years, bringing their vast experience to the table.

Mentors’ Experience

With 1,621 international matches played, these cricketers have scored 32,780 runs and taken 1,503 wickets. They have also won several ICC events, including the ICC Champions Trophy and ACC Asia Cup.

First Assignment

The mentors’ first assignment will be the Champions One-Day Cup, held at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from September 12 to 29. This tournament will feature the best cricketers from across the country, competing in a single-league format.

PCB Chair’s Statement

PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi said, “These mentors will help identify, develop, and nurture the next generation of cricketers. They will play a pivotal role in the development and progression of our emerging cricketers.”

Mentors’ Roles

The mentors will guide strategic planning and team-building processes, while also providing support in leadership and personal development. They will help bridge the gap between domestic and international cricket, ensuring that Pakistan’s cricketing future is bright.
