 Torrential Rains Bring Multan to a Standstill, Metro Bus Service Suspended

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in Multan, suspending metro bus services from BCG Chowk to BZU Station. The district administration has assured that services will resume once the WASA line is stabilized and necessary repairs are carried out.

Flooding and Power Outages

Roads and streets are flooded, with low-lying areas severely affected. Power feeders have tripped, causing outages in many areas. MEPCO officials have promised to restore power as soon as the rain stops.

WASA Line Burst

A WASA line burst has halted metro bus services, causing inconvenience to commuters. The administration is working to repair the line and restore services.

Rain Emergency Declared

Khalid Raza Khan, MD WASA, has declared a rain emergency, with drainage operations ongoing. WASA officials are working to clear drains and restore normalcy.

Record-Breaking Rainfall

Multan has seen a 48-year record broken, with 177 mm of rain recorded at Chungi No. 9 Disposal Station. The previous record was set in 1976, with 134.5 mm of rain.

Challenges Ahead

Despite efforts, low-lying areas in Multan remain flooded, causing challenges for residents. The city’s drainage system is struggling to cope with the sheer volume of water.

Meteorological Department Warning

The Meteorological Department warns that the rain is likely to continue for the next few days, with more flooding expected.
