LAHORE: The talks between Governor Punjab Balighur Rahman and officials of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have failed to reach any conclusion after which both sides have decided to approach Lahore High Court (LHC) and seek explanation vis-a-vis some points of its verdict of holding elections in the province in 90 days.

The ECP meeting with Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman took place at the request of former, in order discuss the date for provincial elections.

The electoral body had appointed the ECP secretary to head the discussions with the governor, along with ECP Special Secretary Zafar Iqbal Hussain and Director General (Law) Mohammad Arshad.

Among others, secretary ECP, Punjab chief secretary, inspector general of Police (IGP) were present at the meeting today.

After the meeting, both sides are reported to have failed to reach any conclusion as nNo date could be finalized for elections for the Punjab Assembly.

Later speaking to newsmen, spokesman for the governor said that there were some points in the high court’s verdict which needed explanation. “For that, the governor will consult with his legal experts before approaching the court,” he added.
