PTI appeals ECP decision and files petition in PHC

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision, claiming that the commission lacks the authority to dictate how party elections are conducted.

The petition, filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC). Claims that the ECP’s interference in the party’s internal affairs is unjustified.

The petition explicitly states that those who challenged the validity of the PTI’s intra-party elections are not even legitimate members of the party. Raising concerns about their ability to challenge the internal processes.

Furthermore, the petitioners who are contesting the intra-party elections have named as parties in the PTI’s legal challenge. The ECP’s decision to declare the PTI inter-party elections null and void. Along with the withdrawal of the party’s election symbol, sparked this legal battle.

In an effort to seek justice. The petition requests that the court form a bench of senior judges and expedite the hearing. Requesting that it be scheduled for today.

PTI’s lawyer, Babar Awan, spoke at the Peshawar High Court on this occasion. He went on to say, “PTI’s election symbol was and will always be bat. Just like the founding chairman was and always will be Imran Khan” .

He stated that the party is challenging ECP’s decision in high court. But that they will also file a contempt of court case with the Supreme Court.

According to Babar Awan. The Supreme Court has stated that anyone who obstructs the election will be held in contempt of court.
