Plea to stop civilian trials in military courts will be heard today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will hear the petitions against the civilian trials in military courts today.

A 7-member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial will hear the petitions.

The Supreme Court issued notices to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Attorney General, and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the earlier hearing.

Farogh Naseem will represent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in today’s Supreme Court hearing before the larger bench, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif will represented by Irfan Qadir, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah will represented by Shah Khawar.

It should noted that petitions have filed by former Chief Justice Jawad S. Khawaja, Senior Advocate Aitzaz Ahsan, Karamat Ali, and Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf, who have asked for the declaration of the unconstitutionality of the trial of civilians in military courts.

On Friday, the court adjourne the hearing on the applications till 9:30 am on Monday, June 26 (today) and the Chief Justice said that the hearing will started on Monday with the arguments of Salman Akram Raja, will take notice automatically and not. Will make judicial order but take note of everything, will try to get the result of this case by Tuesday.
