Beyond the sixth grade, girls not allowed to continue their education. It was the first of several restrictions that currently bar Afghan women from public life, including many occupations and educational settings.

On August 15, 2021, the Taliban took over when US and NATO soldiers left the nation after 20 years of war. Hibatullah Akhundzada, the top leader of the Taliban, is thought to the driving factor behind the abrupt March 2022 school closure.

No threat to rule

According to Mujahid, the Taliban saw their rule over Afghanistan as unending, receiving legitimacy from Islamic law, and encountering little danger.

He asserted that the Taliban’s rule, which he claimed derives its legitimacy from Sharia, has no defined duration. The emir (supreme leader) won’t ousted for acting contrary to Sharia. Thus it will continue to function for as long as it can.

Mujahid claimed that neither internal nor external dangers exist to the Taliban’s rule. He argued that Afghans deserve unity and that the current administration is acting appropriately.

Mujahid avoided inquiries concerning the limits on women and girls, dismissing them with the remark that there was no sense in talking until there were updates. He also suggested that the change was improbable.
