NADRA Investigating 250,000 Suspected Fake CNIC Cases

QUETTA: Caretaker Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai said on Monday that authorities in the province are presently looking into 250,000 instances of undocumented immigrants obtaining computerized national identity cards (CNICs).

The issuing of identity cards to foreign nationals was referred to by Achakzai as “nationality theft” during a press conference held at the Quetta Press Club. He informed reporters that the province’s NADRA [National Database and Registration Authority] is looking into each and every one of these cases of nationality theft.

The acting minister added, “I will also ask NADRA officials to brief the press in this regard.” He restated, “This investigation is against all those involved in identity theft. There is no discrimination against any specific ethnic group.”

The minister held a press conference subsequent to the nationalist parties voicing their concerns regarding the CNICs being issued to Afghan citizens. The issuance of national identity cards to foreign nationals has been the subject of an investigation. Sources in the NADRA told The Express Tribune.

Over 400,000 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan have fled Pakistan, according to Achakzai. “This initiative is a credit to the Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Syed Asim Munir. And Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar,” the minister continued.

“This significant crackdown on illegal immigrants is the first in the last 40 years,” he declared, pointing out that over 1.7 million illegal immigrants were living in Pakistan. He was grateful that so many illegal aliens had deported by law enforcement.

Thank you to the law enforcement agencies for returning so many undocumented immigrants in such a short amount of time. He emphasized, “This crackdown on illegal immigrants is broad-based; no particular ethnic group has been singled out.”

According to Achakzai, the Afghan government ought to turn over terrorists from Pakistan to the authorities. He said that Pakistan had brought up this matter with the Taliban government numerous times. “The Afghan government should hand over terrorists like Hafiz Gul Bahadur to Pakistan,” he insisted.

In response to a query. The acting minister of information stated that while the current Afghan government is mandated to formulate policies. It should simultaneously work toward international recognition.
