Mohsin Naqvi ‘assures’ Barrister Gohar of meeting Imran Khan
In a significant development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan that he will be allowed to meet the incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan. This comes after PTI announced plans for a massive protest on October 15 at Islamabad’s D-Chowk if the party wasn’t allowed to meet Imran Khan.
Condition for Calling Off Protest
PTI Central Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that the protest will be called off if Imran Khan is allowed to meet Barrister Gohar, his family and lawyers. He emphasized that the protest isn’t against the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit but rather for access to Imran Khan.
Ban on Meetings
Imran Khan has been banned from meeting his family, lawyers, and party leaders at Adiala Jail due to security concerns. The Punjab government imposed this ban, effective until October 18, also applying to other prisoners.
Government Urges Postponement
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has urged PTI to postpone the October 15 protest in the national interest. Jamaat-e-Islami has also called on PTI to delay the protest.
