Manzoor Pashteen is placed under police remand for seven days

ISLAMABAD: Manzoor Pashteen, the founder of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM). Has placed under physical remand for seven days by the police.

The hearing taken over by Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain on Thursday.

Before the court, the police presented Pashteen and asked for a 10-day physical remand.

The court postponed the matter until December 14 and allowed Pashteen to physically remanded for seven days.

The PTM leader arrest­ed early Tuesday from Chaman, Balochistan. Brought to Islamabad late yesterday night, according to Pashteen’s legal team and party workers.

Pashteen was in Chaman to attend a large demonstration demanding. The reversal of a government policy which makes it mandatory for Afghan nationals to carry a Pakistani visa to enter the country. The policy came on the back of Pakistan declaring nearly 1.7 million refugees. And migrants in the country “illegal” and ordering their immediate expulsion.

The 29-year-old activist arrested for allegedly firing on police vehicles, a charge the PTM denies.

However on Wednesday the PTM leader couldn’t produced in the Islamabad court after 24 hours of his arrest.

There are four FIRs against Pashteen registered at Tarnol, Bara Kahu po­lice stations, CTD, and FIA in Islamabad.
