LHC reserves verdict on the appeal to remove caretaker PM

LAHORE: In a significant development today, the Lahore High Court (LHC), presided over by a two-member bench led by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi, heard Muqasit Saleem Advocate’s intra-court appeal to remove Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar from office. After careful consideration of the arguments presented, the court has reserved its decision on the matter.

The appeal, which centers on the completion of the caretaker prime minister’s 90-day constitutional term on November 15, has sparked heated debate in legal circles. According to Muqasit Saleem Advocate, the caretaker prime minister’s extension of office beyond the 90-day period is illegal.

During the hearing, the government lawyer informed the court that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the general elections. Scheduled to take place on February 8.
