Jail superintendent refused to allow Imran Khan to talk to his sons

ISLAMABAD. Imran Khan request to speak with his sons over the phone or WhatsApp was denied by the warden of the Attock prison.

The Superintendent of the Attock jail said that jail regulations prohibit accused people facing prosecution under the Official Secrets Act from speaking on the phone in his response to Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain.

In the special court hearing the missing cipher case filed under the Official Secrets Act against PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The Attock Jail staff responded to the contempt of court order on Friday.

The Superintendent further argued that there was no violation of the court order allowing Khan to communicate with his sons. He wrote, “Patients are not permitte to make calls on international telephone numbers in accordance with the Prisoners Act, 1978.

The jail chief then instructed by the presiding judge to make his case in front of the court on September 18.

Since his arrest on August 5 following his conviction in the Toshakhana case following a trial. Imran has incarcerated at Attock.

He taken into detention in the cipher case and is held there till Sep 26 after the IHC delayed his sentence in the Toshakhana case.

He given permission to speak to his sons last month by the special court established to examine claims filed under the Official Secrets Act. However, he filed a plea on Monday asking for contempt of court actions to taken against the jail superintendent in Attock, for disobeying the court’s directive. And forbidding him from speaking to his boys on the phone.
