Imran Khan questions the proceedings of the cipher case

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the former leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has officially contested the cipher case’s proceedings and voiced concerns about the government’s selection of the defendants’ attorneys.

Lawyer Hamid Khan started the legal action by filing a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). Imran Khan argues that the court’s order from January 26 in the cipher case. As well as any subsequent actions taken after government lawyers were appointed, should be ruled invalid.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar reaffirmed the party’s commitment to requesting an early hearing on the issue in a statement. A number of legal developments have led to the decision to challenge the proceedings. And Imran Khan’s legal team intends to make its case before the IHC.

Imran Khan’s petition highlights the need for a comprehensive investigation of the government’s lawyer appointment process. And casts doubt on the validity of the court’s decisions in the cipher case.

It is unclear how the Islamabad High Court will react to Imran Khan’s challenge as the case progresses. And whether it will have an effect on the ongoing Cipher case proceedings.
