Govt’s tenure to end on August 14: PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif said the tenure of present government is ending on the 14 August and elections will be held.

The PM launched Pakistan Education Endowment Fund worth Rs14 billion and reforms in the national curriculum.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will make the announcement during a speech by the prime minister. He stated that whoever forms the new administration following the elections should give education the highest priority in order to make this country great.

Three billion rupees have set aside, according to PM Shehbaz Sharif, for the endowment fund to provide education for the youth. He made it clear that the money would given directly to young people as scholarships rather than added to an endowment fund.

He hoped the allocation of Pakistan Education Endowment Fund increase to Rs140 billion in the next ten years, saying it is only through promotion of education that the country can move forward on the path of progress and development.

Terming the promotion of education as a sacred duty. The PM said special focus should given to the areas which lag behind in development.

He said the government have to focus on education which is meaningful and has relevance with the modern day requirements to better compete with the world.

The prime minister appreciated the financial assistance extended by China, Saudi Arabia and the UAE during difficult times. He however called for introspection to put the country in the right direction.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, the minister of education, stated in his remarks that the endowment fund will provide scholarships for students studying nursing, engineering, and social sciences, among other fields.

The inclusion of the Pakistani Constitution in the curricula, according to the minister, is a noteworthy achievement since it would assist young people understand their rights and obligations.

He claimed that the current administration has also taken measures to advance quality education and draw out-of-school children into educational institutions.
