ECP Summons Maulana Fazlur Rehman Over Intra-Party Elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to appear before a four-member bench on Wednesday over Intra-Party Elections.

Reason for Summons

The summons came after JUI-F failed to hold intra-party elections and submit the required certificate to the ECP.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

This failure has raised concerns about the party’s legitimacy and potential consequences, similar to PTI’s withdrawn election symbol.

ECP Bench Hearing

The ECP bench, headed by Nisar Durrani, will hear the case against JUI-F on Thursday.

Separate Case: Allocation of Party Tickets to Women

The ECP has also summoned party heads, including JI’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and ANP’s Asfandyar Wali Khan, over failure to allocate 5% of party tickets to women.

Notices Issued to 14 Political Parties

The ECP has issued notices to 14 political parties, including JI, ANP, BNP, and TLP, under Section 206 of the Election Act.

Party Heads to Appear Before ECP

The party heads have been asked to appear before the ECP on September 4 to explain their failure to allocate party tickets to women.
