Renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik arrived in Islamabad on Monday, marking the beginning of his 15-day visit to Pakistan. He was warmly welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including Syed Dr. Atta ur Rehman, Rana Mashood, and Parliamentary Secretary Religious Affairs Shamsher Ali Mazari.
Visit Schedule
Dr. Zakir Naik will address public gatherings in three major cities:
- Karachi: October 5-6
- Lahore: October 12-13
- Islamabad: October 19-20
His speeches and programs will be telecast live on the Peace religious channel.
Previous Plans
Dr. Zakir Naik had planned to visit Pakistan in 2020 but was unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a podcast with a Pakistani YouTuber, he expressed his desire to visit Pakistan and clarified why he chose Malaysia over Pakistan after leaving India.
Reason for Choosing Malaysia
Dr. Zakir Naik cited the principle of Shariat, which emphasizes tolerating small losses to avoid bigger ones, as the reason for his decision.
Significance of the Visit
Dr. Zakir Naik’s visit is significant, especially after the Indian government banned his institution, Islamic Research Foundation, for five years in 2016. His presence in Pakistan is expected to inspire and educate people on Islamic values.
