Dasti charges horrifying abuse of family members by LEAs

LAHORE: Former MNA and PTI chief Jamshed Dasti made shocking charges against Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officers and “secret agencies” on Monday. He claimed to have witnessed a disturbing incident in which law enforcement officers broke into his home and nudely stripped his wife.

Visibly shaken, Dasti described in a video that uploaded to the social media site “X” the terrifying experience he and his family supposedly went through during a midnight raid by the CTD. And what he called “secret agencies.”

Dasti claims that during the alleged incident. Which happened at his Muzaffargarh home, law enforcement officers violently attacked and stripped his wife as well as their children.

In the video, Dasti, who is presently being prosecuted by the Muzaffargarh Saddar police. And has eluded several attempts at arrest, made a direct appeal to Pakistan’s Chief Justice. Bemoaning the “loss of his honour” and declaring that he was willing to suffer any consequences, including death.

While he was still in hiding, Dasti’s wife recently submitted nomination papers for him to run in the upcoming elections. Dasti was a member of the PTI, which was once led by former prime minister Imran Khan.

It is unbelievable how cruel someone has been to me. He bemoaned, “My mind isn’t functioning anymore […] they are torturing me just because I will run in elections. The only sin that I’ve committed is support Imran Khan.” Chief Justice Shahib, I’m prepared to die.

“My honor has been betrayed. “I never thought someone like me would be treated with such brutality,” he uttered.

However, in a video statement, Khurram Riaz. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Muzaffargarh, refuted Dasti’s claims, calling them “groundless” and “fabrications.”

“There was no mistreatment of Jamshed Dasti’s family. And the alleged raid on his residence did not occur,” the police officer stated. Adding that since Dasti had over 40 active cases against him. The accusations were an attempt on his part to present a false picture.

Riaz went on to say that Dasti’s actions intended to create “disorder and fear” in his community.
