Constitutional Amendments Shrouded in Secrecy: Akhtar Mengal Raises Concerns
Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA’ Brings Heavy Rainfall to Sindh
Cyclonic Storm ‘ASNA’ has brought heavy rainfall to several areas of Karachi and other parts of Sindh and Baluchistan provinces. ASNA is a result of a deep depression that formed over the Arabian Sea, which intensified into a cyclonic storm.
Formation of Cyclone and Deep Depression
A cyclone is formed when a low-pressure system develops over warm ocean waters, causing the air to rise and create a vacuum. As the air rises, it cools, and the water vapor in the air condenses, forming clouds and releasing heat. This heat energy fuels the storm, causing it to strengthen. A deep depression is a stage in the formation of a cyclone, where the pressure drops below 996 hPa.
Rainfall Data
According to the Met Office, maximum rainfall in Karachi was 39mm, recorded at Quaidabad. Other areas of Karachi received significant rainfall, including Surjani Town (24mm), Korangi (18.4mm), and Nazimabad (17mm).
Flooding and Inundation Warning
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has apprehended flooding and inundation in coastal areas of Baluchistan and Sindh. Authorities have advised fishermen not to venture into the open sea till tomorrow.
Citizens Violate Safety Instructions
