Aseefa Zardari to be sworn in as MNA today

Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, daughter of the late former premier Benazir Bhutto and sister of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is gearing up to begin her parliamentary duties officially on Monday.

She will take the oath as a member of the National Assembly, officially stepping into the political arena.

Aseefa’s entry into parliament adds another significant chapter to the Bhutto dynasty’s political legacy, which was started by her maternal grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP and a former premier.

Continuing the political journey of her late mother and grandfather, Aseefa will work alongside her elder brother, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The session of the lower house of parliament has been summoned by NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on the requisition of opposition parties, set for 5 pm.

The agenda for the meeting will focus solely on issues raised by the opposition.

However, the joint session of parliament has been rescheduled from April 16 (Tuesday) to April 18 (Thursday). President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to address the combined sitting of both houses of parliament, marking the beginning of the new parliamentary year.

The president has summoned the joint session of parliament by exercising powers conferred by Articles 54(1) and 56(3) of the Constitution.
