PDMA Predicts Rainfall in Punjab, Water Levels Rise in Dams and Rivers

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted rainfall in most districts of Punjab during the next 24 hours. This rainfall is expected to bring relief to the province, but also poses a risk of flooding in low-lying areas. The PDMA has advised citizens to take necessary precautions and stay alert.

Meanwhile, the water level in the Indus River has been reported to be at a low flood level. The Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej rivers are currently at normal water levels. Furthermore, the water situation at hill torrents in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan is normal.

The PDMA has taken proactive measures to ensure public safety. People from settlements in the path of flood streams have been shifted to safer places. Additionally, the authority is closely monitoring the water levels in dams and rivers.

The water levels in dams have been reported as follows: Tarbela dam is 100% filled, Mangla dam is 71% filled, Bhakra dam is 54% filled, Pong dam is 53% filled, and Thaen dam is 26% filled. Moreover, the Basantar nullah in Narowal is at a low flood level.

In addition to the rainfall prediction, the PDMA has also warned of potential flash flooding in hilly areas. Citizens are advised to stay away from flood-prone areas and follow the instructions of local authorities.

In conclusion, the PDMA’s prediction of rainfall in Punjab highlights the need for preparedness and vigilance. The authority’s efforts to monitor water levels and ensure public safety are commendable. By taking necessary precautions, citizens can minimize the risks associated with flooding.
