PTI terminated Pervez Khattak basic membership of the party

Pervez Khattak, the former president of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), was expelled from the party by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday over accusations that he had incited party members to rebel.

 “With reference to the show cause notice served to you earlier dated June 21, 2023, you have not provided a satisfactory reply within the given stipulated time regarding contacting party members and inciting them to leave the party.

As a result, you have now received this notice that your PTI basic membership will terminated. Your membership in the PTI has terminated with immediate effect, according to a note sent out by the party’s secretary general on Wednesday and on file with The Express Tribune.

According to the private news station, Pervez Khattak received a show-cause notice last month for allegedly encouraging members to defect from the former ruling party.

The notice issued by the PTI secretary general required Khattak to explain his position on the anti-party move within seven days of the notice.

Khattak had served as the K-P chief minister as well as the defence minister during the PTI government in K-P and at the Centre.
