Bannu CTD police station is overtaken by militants

BANNU: Militants are reported to have seized control of a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Bannu district last night and took hostages to negotiate with government authorities.

According to  multiple media reports, around 25 arrested members of banned terrorist organisations were under arrest and interrogation at the CTD centre when they took the guns from seven security personnel on duty and took them hostage.

Officials quoted as having said that at least one policeman lost life. Three security personnel injured and evacuated, later transported to a hospital.

It may mentioned here that the situation in Bannu developed hours later after militants attacked the Buragai police station in Lakki Marwat. Early Sunday morning, leaving four policemen dead and injuring as many.
